IF you have a photo of your Chi in a listed color and would like to share with me so everyone can see all their beautiful colors please email me HERE. If you choose to share one of your photo's you will be given full credit!

*Cream
Cream is a common color in Chihuahuas. It can be solid, parti-colored, even sable.
Cream is actually a dilution of fawn and some cream colored dogs show this more than others.

*White
White Chihuahuas are almost totally devoid of black pigment. This is not the same as what is seen in part-colored and is sometimes mixed up with them. A solid white has a pale nose and eye rings and lighter eyes. Their almost Albino in appearance
- but not totally. This color is rare and is usually a product of two white parents.

*Blue
Blue is a rare recessive color and is one shade down from Black. Blue can vary in shades from dark to silver.

*Red
Red is a common color. It can either be bright red or with some sable (with black hairs dispersed throughout the body). Those without the sable are in the more recessive category than those with sable.

*Chocolate
Chocolate is a rare color. It can appear brown like chocolate or almost reddish. Chocolate is in the same color class as blue in terms of genetics. The b and d groups have similar results, in terms of diluting, or changing of the black pigment. It is the b/b gene that causes chocolate.

*Lavender
Sometimes a chocolate can be diluted. This creates the color known as lavender. Lavender is a hard color to come across because it is hard to reproduce. One parent must carry the diluting gene which is seen in the blue color.

*Black
Black is the most dominant color seen in Chihuahuas. Almost every color has some form of the gene that causes black in them. Though, solid black Chihuahuas are rare. It can be seen with white or tan markings. It is most common to see the pattern color that appears like a Doberman. Although it is most common it is recessive as well.

*Fawn
This is the most common color found in Chihuahuas. It often appears reddish. There are several variations to the fawn color. Some examples are: fawn brindle, fawn fawn blue, fawn chocolate.. There are endless variations to this coloring. Cream and fawn can be mistaken for each other, fawn is usually darker than cream.

*Parti-Color
This is not a dominant color. Usually the dominant color is white and is covered by spots of varying sizes and patterns of another color.

*Brindle
Brindle is a rare recessive color. It occurs when there is black or another darker color streaking across a lighter color. The pattern looks almost like tiger stripes. This can occur reversed. This is when the dominant color is black and it's streaked with lighter color stripes.

*Merle
Merle is the coloring that Australian Shepherds are known for. The Merle coloring can be either red or blue. But Merle can be other colors as well, such as sable Merle and chocolate Merle.
